Writer’s Block is an initiative that showcases local authors, story tellers, poets, and spoken word artists presenting original work for future broadcast and podcast.  The February Writer’s Block will celebrate the life and work of iconic playwright Lorraine Hansberry, the first African American woman to write a play performed on Broadway. Her most well-known work “A Raisin in the Sun” has been hailed as a literary masterpiece.  The February Writer’s Block celebrates the inspiration of Lorraine Hansberry and the themes exposed in “A Raisin in the Sun” including: Gender and Feminism, Race Discrimination, Assimilation, Dignity and Pride, and Dreams.

All submitted work must be no more than nine minutes in presentation, be free of profanity, include the title of work, and name of performer.
